One of the main challenges in hydrogen catalysis is the development of cost-effective and efficient catalysts. Precious metals such as platinum and palladium are highly effective but expensive and scarce. Research is ongoing to find alternative materials, such as transition metal carbides or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which can offer comparable performance at a lower cost.
