How Does Substrate Concentration Affect Catalytic Activity?
The effect of substrate concentration on catalytic activity is often described by the Michaelis-Menten equation. According to this model, the rate of reaction increases with substrate concentration until it reaches a maximum velocity (Vmax). Beyond this point, further increases in substrate concentration do not lead to a significant increase in reaction rate, as the enzyme becomes saturated with substrate.
