Methanation is widely used in industry for the production of SNG, which can be used as a substitute for natural gas. It is also an integral part of Power-to-Gas technology, where excess renewable energy is used to produce hydrogen via electrolysis, which is then converted into methane. This methane can be stored and transported using existing natural gas infrastructure.
