Complex Spectra: The IR spectra of catalytic systems can be complex due to overlapping absorption bands from different species. This makes interpretation challenging. In Situ Measurement: Conducting IR spectroscopy under actual reaction conditions (high temperature and pressure) is difficult but crucial for obtaining relevant data. Sensitivity: Detecting low concentrations of intermediates or species adsorbed on the catalyst surface requires highly sensitive instruments.
