What Materials are Used as Catalysts for Oxygen Evolution?
A variety of materials have been explored as catalysts for oxygen evolution. Transition metal oxides like iridium oxide (IrO2) and ruthenium oxide (RuO2) are among the most effective, but their high cost limits large-scale application. Alternative materials such as perovskites, spinels, and layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are being investigated for their potential to provide cost-effective and efficient OER catalysts.
