Despite its importance, oxygen evolution is a challenging reaction due to its complex multi-electron and proton-transfer steps. High overpotentials and slow reaction kinetics are major hurdles. Developing efficient catalysts that can lower the overpotential and accelerate the reaction rate is crucial for advancing OER technology.
