Non-competitive inhibition is a form of enzyme inhibition where the inhibitor reduces the activity of the enzyme by binding to a site other than the active site. This binding alters the enzyme's structure, rendering it less effective or entirely inactive in catalyzing the reaction. Unlike competitive inhibition, the binding of the inhibitor does not directly compete with the substrate for the active site.
