Glutathione Disulfide (GSSG) is the oxidized form of glutathione (GSH), a tripeptide composed of glutamine, cysteine, and glycine. Glutathione is a crucial antioxidant in cells, protecting against oxidative stress by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and other free radicals. Upon donating an electron to neutralize ROS, glutathione becomes oxidized, forming glutathione disulfide.
