darcy's law

What is Darcy's Law?

Darcy's Law can be mathematically expressed as:
\[ Q = \frac{k \cdot A \cdot \Delta P}{\mu \cdot L} \]
where:
- \( Q \) is the volumetric flow rate
- \( k \) is the permeability of the porous medium
- \( A \) is the cross-sectional area
- \( \Delta P \) is the pressure drop across the medium
- \( \mu \) is the viscosity of the fluid
- \( L \) is the thickness of the medium
This equation essentially states that the flow rate of the fluid through a porous medium is directly proportional to the pressure drop and the permeability, and inversely proportional to the fluid's viscosity and the medium's thickness.
