Carbon capture involves trapping CO₂ emissions from sources like power plants and industrial processes to prevent them from entering the atmosphere. Catalysts are used in various carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. For instance, in post-combustion capture, amine-based solvents often contain catalysts that improve the absorption and release of CO₂. Additionally, solid adsorbents with catalytic properties are being developed to enhance the efficiency of direct air capture technologies.
