Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) refer to a set of chemical treatment procedures designed to remove organic (and sometimes inorganic) contaminants from water and air. These processes generate highly reactive reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as hydroxyl radicals (·OH), which are capable of attacking and breaking down pollutants that are otherwise resistant to conventional treatment methods.
