Despite its advantages, lab scale catalysis faces several challenges. One major issue is the scaling-up problem, where conditions optimized in the lab do not always translate directly to industrial scales. Another challenge is the reproducibility of results, as slight variations in experimental conditions can lead to different outcomes. Additionally, the cost of catalysts and equipment can be prohibitive, especially for novel or rare materials.
