Bubble caps consist of a riser or chimney fitted with a cap that has slits or holes. Vapor from the bottom of the column rises through the riser and is dispersed through the liquid on the tray by the cap. This dispersion creates small bubbles that significantly increase the surface area for mass transfer, enhancing the efficiency of the catalytic process.
