Plan S is an initiative for open-access publishing that was launched in 2018 by cOAlition S, an international consortium of research funders. The aim of Plan S is to make scientific publications resulting from publicly funded research openly accessible to all by 2021. This means that papers and articles must be published in compliant open-access journals or platforms, or be made freely available through open-access repositories without embargo.
