What Challenges Exist for Open Access in Catalysis?
Despite its advantages, Open Access also faces several challenges:
Cost: The APCs required for Gold OA can be prohibitive for some researchers, especially those from underfunded institutions or countries. Quality Concerns: There is a perception that OA journals may compromise on peer review quality to publish more articles and generate revenue. Predatory Journals: The rise of predatory journals that exploit the OA model without providing rigorous peer review can undermine trust in OA publications.
