What Are the Limitations of Peristaltic Pumps in Catalysis?
Despite their advantages, peristaltic pumps have some limitations:
- Flow Rate Limitations: They are generally not suitable for very high flow rates, which may be required in some industrial-scale catalytic processes. - Tubing Wear: The repetitive compression and release of the tube can lead to wear and tear, necessitating regular replacement. - Pulsation: Although minimal, some degree of pulsation is inherent in peristaltic pumps, which may not be suitable for extremely sensitive catalytic reactions.
