Complex spectra: The spectra can be complex and difficult to interpret, especially for mixtures or materials with overlapping bands. Sample preparation: The need for specific sample preparation techniques can be a limitation for in situ and operando studies. Sensitivity: FTIR may not be sensitive enough to detect very low concentrations of intermediates or surface species.
