Despite its advantages, ATR also has some limitations:
Limited Penetration Depth: The shallow penetration depth may not provide information about the bulk properties of the sample. Refractive Index Mismatch: Significant differences in refractive indices between the ATR crystal and the sample can lead to poor spectral quality. Sample Preparation: Samples need to be in close contact with the ATR crystal, which can sometimes be challenging for certain materials.
