What are the Different Types of Catalytic Converters?
There are three main types of catalytic converters:
Two-Way Catalytic Converters: These were the first type of converters used and are designed to control only CO and HC emissions. Three-Way Catalytic Converters: These are more advanced and can control CO, HC, and NOx emissions. They are the most commonly used type in modern vehicles. Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOCs): These are used in diesel engines and are effective at reducing CO and HC but require additional systems like Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to manage NOx emissions.
