What Are the Challenges in Using Incident Light for Catalysis?
One of the main challenges is the limited absorption range of many photocatalysts, which restricts their use to specific wavelengths of light. This often necessitates the use of artificial light sources, increasing operational costs. Additionally, the penetration depth of light can be an issue in heterogeneous catalysis, where only the surface of the catalyst is exposed to light. Overcoming these challenges requires innovative materials and reactor designs.
