What are the Challenges in Structural Elucidation?
Despite the advances in techniques, several challenges remain:
- Complexity: Catalysts, especially heterogeneous ones, often have complex structures with multiple components and phases. - Dynamics: Catalysts can undergo structural changes during reactions, making it difficult to capture their active forms. - Resolution: Achieving atomic-level resolution for non-crystalline materials is challenging. - Environment: Simulating the actual reaction environment (e.g., high pressures, temperatures) in laboratory conditions can be difficult.
