What are the Challenges in Bioengineering Enzymes?
Despite their advantages, there are several challenges in bioengineering enzymes. One of the primary challenges is stability. Engineered enzymes may not always be stable under industrial conditions, such as high temperatures or extreme pH levels. Another challenge is the scalability of production. Producing enzymes in large quantities can be technically challenging and costly. Furthermore, there may be regulatory hurdles to overcome, especially in applications related to food and pharmaceuticals.
