How Do Catalysts Contribute to Hydrogen Production?
Hydrogen is considered a clean fuel of the future, and catalysts are key to its production. The most common method is steam methane reforming (SMR), where a catalyst aids the reaction of methane with steam to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. For greener hydrogen production, electrocatalysts are used in electrolysis to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity, ideally from renewable sources.
